The Lions used a pair of goals, then held off the host club to register the 2-1 win. Penn State Hazleton seized an opening first-half lead, 1-0 at the 13 minute mark. The Nittany Lions got on board when Mark Lutz booted home the first score thanks to an assist from Phil LaRuso. The lead held until the 58-minute mark of the second half, as Penn State New Kensington got the equalizer from Fred Rectenwald for a 1-1 score.

Things stayed that way until the 66-minute mark, before Penn State Hazleton scored the clincher. This time it was Zane Chelsea booting in the game winner on a direct corner kick, as PSU New Kensington had a tough time handling the low screamer.

The win by Penn State Hazleton improves its mark to 3-2 in the conference, while snapping the host 5-0 win streak. The Lions play at Penn State Scranton come Tuesday afternoon.
